About Us

We Heart Charleston Non-Profit

Our non-profit is dedicated to supporting children facing financial hardship due to heart conditions and related medical challenges by combining heart health awareness with creative, skill building opportunities. Through our “Stitching with Heart” initiative, children are introduced to sewing, textiles, and fashion design in a supportive environment that encourages creativity, confidence, and independence. These hands on experiences are inspired by occupational therapy principles and help develop fine motor coordination, hand strength, executive functioning, and emotional expression. By blending education, creativity, and community support, we aim to provide meaningful opportunities that help children grow, express themselves, and shine.

Our Story

Our non-profit began with a focus on heart health, aiming to help raise funds and awareness for heart health in the Charleston community. As our mission has grown, we are evolving to introduce an initiative that will stitch around much longer. Through this next chapter, we aim to focus our efforts on educating, empowering and supporting children facing financial hardship due to heart and other related medical conditions.

Our fundraising efforts include producing fashion shows, with our next show happening this summer, to help generate the funds and resources needed to support this important programming. This is the direction our non-profit will continue to champion, helping children thrive, create and shine.

There will be scholarships awarded to children that meet the following criteria.

  • Facing a medial condition related to a heart condition or related cause (each will be carefully evaluated)

  • Experiencing financial hardship

  • Interested in learning sewing, textiles or fashion design

  • Under the age of 18 years old

We are committed to respecting your privacy and only ask for the minimum information necessary. Please do not include highly sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers, full medical records, or unredacted financial account details when submitting your materials.
